What Should You Do?

Keep electrical appliances to a minimum. Make sure appliances supplied are complete and in working order - keep purchase receipts. Pay particular attention to electrical equipment - always have these items checked. Ensure that operating instructions and safety warning notices are supplied with the appliance. Make sure there is access to the main consumer unit, fuses and isolator switch.

All circuits are inspected and tested to see if they are correctly wired i.e positive, neutral and earth (Polarity Test). The distribution board is checked for the presence of RCD's and if present these are tested to see if they quickly switch off from the supply as expected. A visual check of the entire installation is carried out from electrical bonding on pipework to scorch marks on socket plates and the presence of electrics in bathrooms and kitchens.
